Advertising Policy

The Journal of Circular Economy Innovations maintains a clear separation between scholarly publishing activities and commercial or promotional interests. The journal is committed to protecting editorial independence and ensuring that manuscript submission, peer review, editorial assessment, acceptance, rejection, and publication decisions are based exclusively on scholarly and ethical considerations.

1. Current Advertising Position

The Journal of Circular Economy Innovations does not currently accept paid commercial advertising on its journal website, within published articles, in article files, or as part of the peer-review and editorial process.

The journal does not accept payments from commercial organizations in exchange for displaying advertisements alongside scholarly content.

This position is intended to maintain a clear distinction between academic publishing and commercial promotion and to minimize the possibility of commercial interests influencing, or appearing to influence, editorial decisions.

2. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are independent of advertising, sponsorship, commercial relationships, funding arrangements, or other financial considerations.

The decision to accept, revise, or reject a manuscript is based on factors including:

  • relevance to the journal's aims and scope;

  • originality and scholarly contribution;

  • methodological quality;

  • validity and clarity of the research;

  • ethical compliance;

  • peer-review reports; and

  • overall suitability for publication.

No author, institution, company, sponsor, advertiser, or other external organization may purchase or otherwise obtain favorable editorial treatment.

3. No Relationship Between Advertising and Manuscript Decisions

The journal does not permit advertising or promotional considerations to influence:

  • manuscript selection;

  • assignment of editors;

  • selection of peer reviewers;

  • reviewer recommendations;

  • editorial decisions;

  • publication timing;

  • placement or prominence of individual articles; or

  • interpretation of published research.

Editorial personnel are expected to preserve the independence of scholarly decision-making from financial or promotional interests.

4. Commercial Advertisements

The journal currently does not accept paid advertisements relating to commercial products or services.

This includes, but is not limited to, advertising for:

  • commercial products;

  • software or digital platforms;

  • consulting services;

  • educational or professional services;

  • publishing services;

  • commercial conferences;

  • financial products;

  • industrial products or technologies;

  • recruitment services;

  • commercial research services; and

  • other goods or services offered primarily for commercial promotion.

The absence of advertising does not prevent authors from appropriately identifying products, software, equipment, organizations, or services when such information is scientifically necessary for transparent research reporting.

5. Sponsored Content and Advertorials

The journal does not present paid promotional material as independent editorial or scholarly content.

Sponsored articles, paid advertorials, promotional reviews, or other content designed primarily to market a commercial product, organization, or service are not treated as ordinary scholarly articles.

Payment must never be used to obtain the appearance of independent peer-reviewed endorsement.

6. Journal Announcements

The journal may publish legitimate noncommercial notices directly related to its scholarly and publishing activities.

Such notices may include:

  • calls for papers;

  • calls for reviewers;

  • special issue announcements;

  • editorial notices;

  • publication schedules;

  • journal events;

  • policy updates;

  • author-information notices; and

  • other communications directly related to journal operations.

These journal communications are not treated as commercial advertisements.

7. Academic and Scholarly Notices

Where appropriate, the journal may provide information concerning academic conferences, research initiatives, educational events, scholarly collaborations, or other activities relevant to its academic community.

Publication of such information does not constitute endorsement of the organization, event, service, product, or claims involved.

Where a financial or sponsorship relationship exists, it should be disclosed transparently before any such material is considered for publication.

8. Product and Organization References in Articles

References to commercial products, organizations, software, datasets, equipment, technologies, or services within scholarly manuscripts are permitted where academically relevant and necessary for accurate research reporting.

Such references must not be unnecessarily promotional.

Authors should use neutral scholarly language and should identify products or organizations only to the extent necessary for methodological transparency, reproducibility, interpretation, or scholarly discussion.

The presence of a product name, company name, trademark, or commercial technology in an article does not imply endorsement by the journal or publisher.

9. Conflicts of Interest

Any financial, professional, institutional, or commercial relationship relevant to a submitted manuscript should be disclosed in accordance with the journal's Conflict of Interest Policy.

Authors should disclose relevant relationships with organizations whose products, technologies, policies, services, or commercial interests are discussed or evaluated in the manuscript.

Editors and reviewers should also disclose conflicts that could affect their impartiality.

10. Sponsored Research

Research supported by governmental, academic, charitable, nonprofit, industrial, or commercial organizations may be considered for publication.

Research funding is not treated as advertising.

However, authors must disclose relevant funding and, where applicable, explain the role of the funder in:

  • study design;

  • data collection;

  • analysis;

  • interpretation;

  • manuscript preparation; or

  • the decision to submit the work for publication.

Funding or sponsorship does not guarantee publication and must not influence the journal's editorial decision.

11. Editorial Content and Commercial Influence

The publisher, editorial board, and journal management should maintain an operational distinction between any financial or organizational activities and the editorial evaluation of manuscripts.

Commercial organizations must not be permitted to control the journal's:

  • editorial priorities;

  • peer-review outcomes;

  • research conclusions;

  • correction or retraction decisions; or

  • publication-ethics procedures.

Any attempt to influence these processes through financial or commercial pressure may result in termination of the relevant relationship.

12. Advertising and Peer Review

Reviewers are not informed of, selected on the basis of, or influenced by any advertising or commercial arrangements associated with the journal.

The peer-review process is conducted according to the journal's Peer Review Policy and remains independent of advertising or sponsorship considerations.

Reviewers must not use the peer-review process to promote their own commercial interests or those of third parties.

13. Advertising and Article Processing Charges

Article processing charges, where applicable under the journal's published fee policy, are separate from advertising.

Payment of an article processing charge does not constitute advertising and does not purchase acceptance, preferential review, accelerated scholarly approval, or favorable editorial treatment.

Any applicable publication charges should be disclosed through the journal's dedicated fee or Article Processing Charges policy.

14. Reader Data and Advertising

Because the journal does not currently operate paid commercial advertising, reader behavior is not used by the journal for the purpose of selecting or targeting paid advertisements.

Personal information collected through the journal website is managed in accordance with the journal's Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection practices.

The journal does not represent ordinary manuscript or readership information as advertising data.

15. Political and Advocacy Advertising

The journal does not accept paid political advertising, electoral advertising, lobbying advertisements, or paid advocacy material presented as journal content.

Scholarly research concerning policy, governance, economics, sustainability, environmental regulation, circular economy transitions, or related public-interest questions remains eligible for consideration when it satisfies the journal's academic and editorial requirements.

Academic analysis should not be confused with paid political promotion.

16. Misleading or Deceptive Promotion

The journal does not knowingly support advertising or promotional practices that:

  • make materially misleading claims;

  • misrepresent scientific evidence;

  • imitate scholarly content;

  • falsely suggest journal endorsement;

  • misuse the journal's name or identity;

  • infringe intellectual-property rights; or

  • compromise research or publication integrity.

Any unauthorized use of the journal's identity for commercial promotion may be investigated and addressed as appropriate.

17. Endorsement

Publication of an article, announcement, reference, hyperlink, product name, institution, technology, conference, organization, or other external resource does not constitute endorsement by the Journal of Circular Economy Innovations, its editors, editorial board, or publisher.

Responsibility for claims made by external organizations remains with those organizations.

18. Future Changes to Advertising Practice

If the journal decides to accept advertising in the future, this policy will be revised before such advertising is introduced.

Any future advertising framework should clearly identify:

  • the categories of advertising that may be accepted;

  • who is responsible for advertising decisions;

  • how advertisements are distinguished from editorial content;

  • whether advertisements are displayed randomly or according to defined criteria;

  • whether reader behavior is used for advertising selection;

  • how conflicts of interest are managed; and

  • how editorial independence is protected.

Any material change will be communicated transparently through the journal website.

19. Separation of Advertising and Editorial Functions

If advertising is introduced in the future, individuals responsible for accepting or managing advertisements should not influence decisions concerning individual manuscripts.

Advertising revenue must not determine editorial outcomes or be linked to the acceptance or rejection of particular articles.

Advertisements, if introduced, must be distinguishable from peer-reviewed and editorial content so that readers are not misled regarding their status.

20. Complaints Concerning Advertising

Readers, authors, reviewers, editors, or other stakeholders who believe that promotional or commercial material associated with the journal is misleading, inappropriate, or inconsistent with this policy may contact the editorial office.

Credible concerns will be reviewed and may result in correction, clarification, removal of inappropriate material, or other action considered necessary.

Complaints concerning editorial independence may also be considered under the journal's Complaints and Appeals Policy where applicable.

21. Responsibility for Policy Implementation

The publisher and journal management are responsible for ensuring that any journal-level commercial activity remains consistent with this policy.

Editors remain responsible for protecting the independence of scholarly evaluation and should report circumstances in which they believe financial or commercial pressure is being applied to editorial decision-making.

22. Policy Transparency

The journal makes this Advertising Policy publicly available so that authors, readers, reviewers, editors, institutions, and other stakeholders can understand the relationship between advertising and editorial activities.

The policy may be reviewed periodically to reflect changes in the journal's publishing practices and recognized standards of scholarly-publishing transparency.

Commitment to Editorial Independence

The Journal of Circular Economy Innovations considers independent editorial judgment essential to credible scholarly publishing.

The journal therefore maintains a clear distinction between scholarly content and commercial promotion. Under the current policy, paid commercial advertising is not accepted, and financial or promotional interests have no role in determining manuscript submission, peer review, editorial evaluation, acceptance, rejection, or publication.
